Turku UAS offers a wide range of courses and projects taught in English where international and local students study together. On this page you can find the suitable international semesters for exchange students.
Note! You can only take courses from the faculty of which your home university is a partner. If you don't know which faculty is your home university's partner, please contact the international office at your home university or Turku UAS International Student Services incoming.exchange(at)turkuamk.fi.

International Semesters
Instructions:
How to choose your study programme at the faculty:
- Choose from one school only with which your university has an exchange agreement.
- 30 ECTS / academic semester or 60 ECTS / academic year (in general).
- Choose full international semesters/modules, not single courses.
- You may choose additional courses:
- from "Faculty's Optional Courses suitable for all"
- from Turku UAS "Courses Suitable for all Exchange Students".
- Note the daily schedules in order to avoid overlapping.
- Consider the prerequisites of each course/module - do you have a suitable background?
- The number of students might be limited for some modules (or courses). Therefore, we suggest that you select also a second option for the module(s).

- Confirmation of the study programme:
- You will receive the final confirmation of your study programme and signed learning agreement when you arrive in Finland.

- 1 ECTS credit is equal to 27 hours of students work
- Language: English (except Finnish for exchange students -course)

Important to bear in mind:

- The recommended workload for exchange students is 5 ECTS / month.

ARTS ACADEMY

International Semester at Arts Academy
The Arts Academy provides a wide range of Bachelor of Arts Programme (240 ECTS) in the field of arts and media. A central and significant feature is the multi-disciplinary structure, which allows interaction between subjects and presents creative potential for the cross-fertilisation of ideas between programmes. Concentration on project-based studies allows us to have international students in most of the workshops, since a teacher can give guidance and teaching in both languages simultaneously (English and Finnish). Most of the courses can be arranged in a flexible way in English.
In addition to courses provided by Arts Academy students are expected to take the following general courses:
• Finnish for Foreigners (3 ECTS)
• GetFinternational (3 ECTS)
• Cultural Experiences (3 ECTS)
During an exchange period of 3 months, a student may complete min. 20 ECTS. During an exchange period of a whole semester, a student may complete min. 30 ECTS.
Film and Media: Advertising and Media Management, Film Studies, Journalism
Film and Media courses Spring 2024
This International Semester takes place only during Spring semesters. An international exchange student will have an individual study plan based on the courses offered for exchange students. The individual study plan will be agreed with the teacher tutor of the study field. Some courses are arranged in online studies. Each student is requested to have an individual project (min. 5 ECTS) during the exchange period. A student will be provided guidance for the execution of the project by the teacher tutor and student tutors.
Fine Arts: Fine Arts, Photography, Animation
An international exchange student will have an individual study plan based on discussions with the teacher tutor of the study field. Each student is requested to have an individual project (min. 5 ECTS) during the exchange period. A student will be provided guidance for the execution of the project by the teacher tutor and student tutors.
Music and Performing Arts: Music Pedagogue, Circus, Theatre and Puppetry, Dance Teacher
An international exchange student will have an individual study plan based on discussions with the teacher tutor of the study field. Each student is requested to have an individual project (min. 5 ECTS) during the exchange period. A student will be provided guidance for the execution of the project by the teacher tutor and student tutors.

Turku UAS offers these general courses to all exchange students:

Multicultural and International competence
, 5 ECTS, course code TE00CS61-3001
- This course aims to bring Finnish and international students together and improve their competence in the multicultural world of work. Understanding the significance of multiculturalism makes communication between people from different cultural backgrounds easier.
- The students learns the multicultural aspects of Turku and its international working life with the help of theoretical knowledge and activities that explore the themes, like events, workshops, and expert lectures.
- Graded 0-5.

Double Degrees
Turku UAS offers double degree programmes in the fields of ICT, business and engineering. In a double degree programme the student can obtain two degrees when graduating: one from their home university and the other from Turku UAS. Read more about Double Degrees.
