NIT Nagaoka College and TUAS to start cooperation

Turku University of Applied Sciences (TUAS) and National Institute of Technology, Nagaoka College, Japan, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation. Strengthening the collaboration is important for both parties and the new agreement will increase the opportunities for conducting various kinds of cooperation with Japan.

Joint application of spring 2018 started – increase in student intake in the field of technology

The joint application period of the spring 2018 opened on 14 March. Turku University of Applied Sciences offers a selection of altogether 52 degree programmes in four different fields of education. In the field of technology, the student intake has been increased.

TUAS and the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, to start cooperation in education to strengthen the technological competence in Southwest Finland

During the two-day visit by the Scottish delegation to Turku, practical suggestions for measures to be applied to collaboration in education and research in the field of technology were found, particularly for the needs of marine and manufacturing industry as well as health care.

Director Juha Kettunen to retire

D.Sc. (Econ.), Ph.D, D.Sc. (Tech.), Adjunct Professor Juha Kettunen is retiring. Kettunen acted as the Rector of Turku University of Applied Sciences in 2000–2014. In 2014, he was offered a position as a Director. He will continue the cooperation with TUAS as an emeritus.

National competition for Global Student Entrepreneur Award (GSEA) was arranged on 1 Feb 2018

The GSEA competition, standing for Global Student Entrepreneur Award, is targeted at higher education students who have run their own business while studying for at least six months, generating the minimum of USD 500 from the business. The national qualifying competition of Finland in February was the second one that was arranged in Turku.

Representatives of the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, Visit Turku on 15–16 Feb – Collaboration with TUAS Under Planning

Turku University of Applied Sciences (TUAS) established a Letter of Intent with the University of Strathclyde in December regarding future cooperation. The agreement on cooperation is an outcome of the joint visit by representatives of the City of Turku and TUAS to the University of Strathclyde in late November.

Pekka Talmola nominated as TUAS Fellow

The TUAS Fellow expert scheme, established in 2016 by Turku University of Applied Sciences (TUAS), aims at promoting the stakeholder collaboration between the higher education institution and the surrounding society. The most recently nominated TUAS Fellow expert is Pekka Talmola, who has cooperated with ICT trainers since early 1990s.

Chinese Spring Festival celebration was taken place at Lemminkäisenkatu Campus. Our twelve visiting students from Tianjin University of Technology, China organized an event: Chinese Food Sale for students and staff to celebrate the Chinese Spring Festival together.

TUAS to develop an electric rallycross car in cooperation with 3DTech Oy

3DTech Oy, a company specializing in 3D printing technology, and Turku University of Applied Sciences have signed a cooperation agreement on designing and printing components to an electric rallycross car. The project forms a new learning and research environment that aims to keep up with the fast developing field of electric car engineering.
