The state of telemedicine and eHealth in Poland – Piotr Henryk Skarzynski as the keynote speaker

The seminar on Telemedicine and eHealth in April focuses on national health care, with a few exceptions. The keynote speaker of the seminar, Professor Piotr Henryk Skarzynski, will come to Turku to recount the progress of the digitalization of health care services in Poland.

Piotr Henryk Skarzynski is an active member of several scientific communities, such as a representative board member in the international community ISfTEh (International Society for Telemedicine and Ehealth).

The development of services within telemedicine and eHealth is important to Skarzynski, and he tries to highlight the issue both in Poland and internationally. In addition, the viewpoint of citizens is important to Skarzynski in the development work.

At the seminar Skarzynski will recount how issues related to telemedicine and eHealth are progressing in Poland. Skarzynski has been asked to discuss the history, current status and future of these issues. This will be useful in comparing them to Finland.  How are we progressing in the equivalent topics over here and what can we learn from our Polish colleagues?

Who is Piotr Henryk Skarzynski?

Professor Piotr Henryk Skarzynski is a representative of medicine of the younger generation, eager to promote the increase of digital services in health care. He is a Specialist in Otorhinolaryngology. 

Skarzynski has graduated as a doctor from the Medical University of Warsaw in 2008. He was awarded the title of Professor in 2012, and is nowadays an Associate Professor at the University of Warsaw. 

Skarzynski has participated in several national and international projects on telemedicine in several European, Asian and African countries. These projects have included e.g. an implementation on the development of consulting and rehabilitation in telemedicine services.
